Effective Public Speaking

Over the past 18 years Steve Goudey has offered this short and fun program to a wide variety of audiences including various New Brunswick Community College groups, the National Literacy Conference, and three Multi-cultural employment programs. People have not only greatly improved their public speaking but as a side benefit, the major improvement seems to be to their self-confidence. It is a particularly great course for the shy or introverted.

This course will cover:
- Your introduction speech
- Thinking on your feet
- Your impromptu speech
- Space fillers
- Professional dress
- Cue cards or MS word document
- Critique and its importance
- Eye contact and your body language
- Writing speeches
- Your prepared speech

Dates: Wednesdays, February 19 - March 12, 2014 (4 weeks)
Time: 7:00- 9:00 p.m.

Course fee: $100.00 plus HST
About the instructor: Stephen Goudey has 40 years of work experience in the private, public and non-for-profit sectors as both an employee and volunteer. His advanced communications and diplomacy skills were developed through his experience with the Canadian National Story Tellers Association, The New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, the Fredericton Junior Chamber of Commerce and as an accomplished and experienced public speaker. In 2011, he received the Outstanding Volunteer Award from Pine Grove and United Way Fredericton. Other recognitions include the NB Craft College Fellowship Award and the New Brunswick Community College Network Leadership Award.
