Slip Cover Basics

CCOM 1705

Breathe new life into older, tired-looking furniture by making your own slipcovers! Slipcovers are easier to make than you think. Under the expert guidance of instructor Glenda Guitard-Bruce, learn the basic steps involved in making slipcovers – pattern-making, sewing and fitting. You don’t have to be an experienced seamstress to master this craft - although you do need to have basic sewing skills and know how to use a sewing machine.

Materials List: A small furniture item, such a dining room or small arm chair; cheap cotton for pattern drafting and good fabric for the finished slipcover; a sewing machine (including needles, bobbins and zipper foot); an extension cord; good pair of fabric scissors; a measuring tape; pins: (straight or T-pins); a pencil, chalk, a notebook; and magazines pictures for inspiration.
