Poetic Expression

CCOM 1110

Do you enjoy expressing your thoughts, poetically? If you love to write or think you would like to write poetry, then this introductory workshop is for you. Words have power. They can potentially soothe, hurt, heal,  encourage, inspire, devastate and uplift us. Spend a day in a relaxed and informal setting, writing and talking about poetry and how words impact us, our emotions and our life experiences. You’ll be introduced to poems by Kahlil Gibran, Sherry Fitch (adult) and Stuart McKinnon. A variety of prompts will help you express your thoughts. You’ll also have the freedom to choose the format of your poetry, one of which will be free verse, as well as an opportunity to experiment with less well-known forms of poetry, such as the senryu and the rondeau.

"Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words." Robert Frost
