Bookbinding
CCOM
A workshop to introduce you to the art of one-of-a-kind book making.
A spiral bound (you WILL be bending & threading wire) journal/book/album/novel-to-be – that’s what the goal for this day will be. We will be covering some basic book-making techniques. Cover making, page cutting, design, we’ll make peace with the drill, the bone folder, the metal ruler, the exacto knife……..you get the gist – simple stuff with perhaps a few tickled up surprises. Just wait & see what you can create in a day!
We won’t get too too fussy on exact measuring or perfect technique, but we will learn a few basics to have fun with & expand upon, perhaps in a future workshop.
Materials: There will be a $15 materials fee payable to the instructor.
Instructor: Denise Rowe
Times: 1:00 - 5:00 pm
Dates: Saturday, November 23, 2013
Location: TBA (click here for campus map)
Course Fee: $55 (+HST)
About the Instructor:
You’ll just have to trust that I know what I’m doing. I’m a graduate from The New Brunswick College of Craft & Design where I received my Certificate in Specialty Photography. BUT, my guilty pleasure was taking multiple book-binding classes while I was there! From a very early age I loved paper. I love how it smells, how it feels, how fun it is to create with. I’ve been creating one-of-a-kind books for over 10 years, teaching fun & not-too-fussy workshops in NB and NS. Many of my books are in private collection and they had better be loving & using those books!
Looking forward to playing with some paper with you in November!
