Beginners Wood Working

CCOM 1306

Learn basic carpentry skills with Leisure Learning's DIY Bob Scott as your guide. Using basics skills, you'll complete a simple project (A Beverage carrier/tote box) with every-day hand tools. You'll learn first-hand how to make joints using a handsaw and a chisel, and use planes to fine tune those joints. You'll also learn how to maintain and sharpen your tools, so they'll always be a joy to use. Armed with these skills, you'll be able to to take on other future carpentry projects of your own!

Project: A Beverage carrier/tote box. Designed to hold 6 of your favorite beverages or as a tote for tools etc.

Materials: There is no need to bring any materials to the first class, except something to take notes with. The project requirements will be covered then. Basic materials will cost less than $10.00, unless you want to go really fancy! You will need to bring your supplies to the second class. Tools will be provided to use on a shared basis, unless you wish to purchase your own.
