Basic Watercolour Techniques
Learn the fundamental techniques essential to enter into the world of watercolor painting. Use your creativity with primary colors to walk away with your very own 5” x 7” composition.
Explore the uses of various materials and mediums available to the watercolor painter and get out your brush! Jump right into painting and be exposed to techniques such as flat & graded wash, wet in wet, dry brush, spray techniques, color lifting, edge softening and layering. Use primary colors to learn the power of complimentary colors. Janel will teach you how basic techniques are key to being creatively successful with watercolor.
This learn-through-play method will suit those who have never lifted a brush and those amateurs looking to gain insight into the basic techniques of the watercolor medium.

About the Instructor
From a very early age, Janel studied visual art, focusing on color theory, fundamental principals of design, portraiture and various paint mediums. She graduated in 2004 with a Diploma in Fine Craft, Jewelry/Metal Arts from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. She is passionate about color and revels in testing new techniques in various mediums. She has worked with a variety of mediums including watercolor, acrylic and metals, although she specializes in portraitures. Her intention with her portraits is to connect with her client and capture the essence of the individual subject. Life has moved her all over the province, but she is now settled back in Fredericton, where she has picked up her brush with a flourish and is back on the art scene with intensity.
