This course provides the basic knowledge and understanding to help
organizations quantify and manage their greenhouse gas emissions. It
reviews the ISO 14064-1 requirements for determining GHG emission
boundaries, quantifying an organization¹s GHG emissions and removals and
identifying specific company actions or activities aimed at improving
GHG management.
It also includes requirements and guidance on inventory quality
management, reporting, internal auditing and the organization¹s
responsibilities in verification activities. The course also reviews
how the requirements of ISO 14064-1 relate to existing GHG
schemes and other key protocols and standards, including ISO 14001 and the World Resources Institute / World Business Council on Sustainable Development Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Joe Harriman, Ph.D., P.Chem. is the Group Leader of the Jacques Whitford Stantec Limited (Stantec) Environmental Scienc
es group based in Saint John, NB. In addition, Dr. Harriman is a Project Manager with substantial experience and background knowledge in GHG emissions and has played a key role in the development of the climate and GHG management solutions for clients as well as for Stantec's participation as reporting members to The Climate Registry. Dr. Harriman has the primary responsibility for Stantec's suite of Carbon and Air Pollutant emission calculation and tracking Toolkits. He has been the project manager and technical lead on the development of numer
ous greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventories for industrial, corporate, municipal and government clients.
Dr. Harriman has been involved in numerous GHG verification projects under the Specified Gas Emitters Regulation (SGER) in Alberta. In addition, Dr. Harriman is an instructor for the CSA's delivery of ISO 14064 GHG courses and is a member of the World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Greenhouse Gas Protocol's Product and Supply Chain Accoun
