This seminar will provide an environment in which participants can improve their knowledge skills and attitudes in developing and leading effective teams. Teams need more than theory, they need the “how to”. Course participants will learn to establish the team, determine the roles and responsibilities of team members and develop constructive communication channels. Strategies for typical team dysfunctions will be highlighted.
Seminar Objectives
Participants will:
- Discuss why teams are so critical in today's workplaces.
- Determine how to establish and maintain an effective team.
- Explore the behaviours that take place in the stages of team development.
- Analyze the dynamics involved in teamwork.
- Discuss strategies for overcoming the five team dysfunctions.
- Discuss ways to keep the team focused on what is working.

Instructor
Joanne Fraser's management background in the private, public and international non-government sectors brings a wealth of experience to her training and facilitation work. For the past twelve years she has worked as an independent consultant. Currently Ms. Fraser is an associate of RiverSystems: Leadership, Strategy & Organizational Development providing training and facilitation services for government, non-government and private sector clients. She has designed and delivered training workshops in project management, strategic planning, leadership skills, interpersonal communication, coaching basics, team building and negotiation skills.
Joanne has a keen interest in helping individuals and groups learn from and adapt to change. Ms. Fraser has a Certificate in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University. She holds a BSc degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a MSc degree in Comparative Development and International Policy from the University of Bristol, England.
