The Public Service Management Program provides customized training to emerging and existing managers in the provincial public service, including departments and agencies, school districts, regional health authorities, and crown corporations.
This program, offered in both official languages, is the result of an educational partnership between the New Brunswick Department of Human Resources, University of New Brunswick's College of Extended Learning, and the Éducation permanente, Université de Moncton. Each partner is committed to building a highly educated labour force supported by a culture of lifelong learning.
As a program participant you will be required to be away from the office for 24 days of face-to-face instruction. You will be expected to complete one to two online modules, which is equivalent to 4 days of instruction. In addition to the on-site and online modules, you will be required to complete pre-readings, reflection papers, and group activities, which will take a few hours of your time each week, on average.
Supporting departments and organizations will be committed to mentoring their employees and provide encouragement for them to complete the program. Program sponsors are encouraged to meet with their sponsored employees regularly to discuss their progress and how they are applying what they have learned to their individual work environments.

“The Instructors are all experts in their field. Their knowledge and experience, combined with an understanding of how the public sector works, ensures that each module provides us with new skills and new information. Learning alongside of professionals from other departments only enhances the experience. I have learned almost as much from the other participants as I have from the instructors!”

"I have found the Public Sector Management Program to be a valuable tool towards my professional development in the New Brunswick civil service. The instructors have been informative, engaging, and interesting; and, the modules have been very educational and diverse. Lastly, the group dynamic amongst participants has been excellent. As a consequence, I've formed a number of friendships this past year that I know I will maintain.
Thank you."

“I participated in the PSMP program in 2010 and I have to say that this was one of my best decisions that I made that year. The program is divided in modules and they all address different essential managerial aspects. Another key element of this program is the possibility to exchange with the participants who work in various departments of the government. The facilitators are knowledgeable and interactive. Not only do you learn from them and others, but you get to learn about yourself which is important in order to succeed at a management level. I would recommend this program to anyone who is thinking of a possible career in management or to someone who is actually in a management position and wishes to improve his skills. “
