Before you apply

Please read the following information regarding required documentation, terms & conditions and our code of conduct.

  • Please complete the online application form and submit your $1000 fee payment. **Your application will not be processed until this fee payment is received.
  • Once your application and fee payment have been received, you will receive conformation via email.
  • If the program you have applied to is full, your application will be put on a wait list
  • Once your application has been processed, you will be asked to submit a packet of documentation. This documentation is required, and you will not be allowed to participate in your Travel Study program without this information.

Required Documentation

  • Copy of your valid passport (due 45 days prior to your program start date)
  • Copy of your International Medicare Card
  • Signed UNB Liability Waiver
  • Signed UNB Medical Waiver
  • A copy of your Student Loans Needs Assessment Form (if you are paying your fees with student loan)
  • Letter of Permission (if you are attending from another university)
  • Copy of your flight itinerary
  • Copy of your UNB Tuition Waiver signed by HR (only required for UNB employees, their spouses and their dependants up to age 26)

All copies of required documentation must be clear and easy to read. These copies can be presented in person, faxed or emailed to us. 

Privacy

Documentation and medical information is collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The University of New Brunswick is committed to protecting the personal information of our participants. The information collected on the application form and any documents submitted will be used solely by the Travel Study Program to administer the program and will be destroyed thereafter.

For your safety, it is important that you disclose all health conditions you may have on our application form as well as any health issues or disabilities for which you might require special arrangements or assistance during this program. You will be asked to list any medications that you take and indicate any dietary restrictions/food allergies.

Terms and Conditions

Signed Waivers
All appropriate waivers will be signed and submitted to CEL prior to the Travel Study departure date. The signing of waivers verifies your compliance with the their content and stated protocols of the UNB Travel Study Program.


Comprehensive insurance

The Comprehensive Insurance package is optional but anyone declining it will be required to sign a waiver releasing the University and its agents of responsibility for any expenses that the student may incur as a result of such declination. The participant is strongly advised to have adequate alternative international medical insurance arranged to cover the period in which they will be away for the Travel Study program.

In the event it becomes necessary or advisable for the comfort or well being of the participants, program adjustments may be made without penalty to the operators. Additional expenses, if any, shall be borne by the participants; conversely, refund will be made to the participants if any saving is affected thereby.


Priority given

UNB reserves the right to:

  • Give priority to registered UNB students.
  • Withdraw any or all programs should conditions warrant.
  • Decline or accept or retain any passengers as members of the study tour. In such instances full or equitable amount will be refunded.


Airlines
The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event; during the time passengers are not on board their planes or conveyances.
The passage contract in use by the airlines concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of this tour.

Code of Conduct

It is crucial that all Travel Study participants are aware of and comply with the University's general regulations on code of conduct and of the student disciplinary code. These codes apply to all students in any location where UNB programs are held, and all students at any events to which UNB is associated.

Every Travel Study participant is expected and must respect the laws and customs of the host country, the UNB student code of conduct, and all other reasonable standards of behavior during your Travel Study Program.

The Travel Study Program often uses the same accommodations from one year to the next. It is essential that UNB maintains a positive relationships with its partners. As an adult participant of the Travel Study program, you are thereby a representative of UNB, and you are expected to minimize noise levels, act responsibly and be respectful of other guests, staff, and property.

It is at the sole discretion of the Faculty Program Director, with appropriate consultation from the administration of UNB Travel Study programs to terminate the participation of any participant whose conduct is determined to jeopardize the order, function, health or safety of program activities or participants. There will be no refund of fees and the participant will be fully responsible for all transportation costs accrued while returning home.
