License to fly

You’ll earn your Private Pilot’s License (PPL) in your first year of study. You’ll build flight hours through cross-country exercises as you work towards your Commercial Pilots License (CPL) which includes Night and Multi-Engine Ratings as well as qualifying you with Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).

Capital Airways Inc. administers all flight training that includes simulator training using the Elite cockpit simulator.   As a first year student, you’ll train in a new Cessna 172 SP, which is fully equipped with IFR capability, leather seats, and a moving map GPS.

Unlike other flight schools, which use smaller twin-engine aircraft, Capital Airways Inc. prepares students for the real world by training them on a Piper Navajo PA-31-310.  This aircraft seats two pilots and six passengers, and is the most commonly used charter aircraft.

Runway to your future

Flight training at Capital Airways is conducted at the Fredericton International Airport (YFC), which offers 6000 and 8000 x 200 foot runways.   YFC’s flexible training environment facilitates a multitude of real life conditions, but is not too busy so as to hinder training.
