About the Archaeology Summer Camp
Format: 4 weeks, Monday –Friday 8:30-4:30pm – comprised of two 2-week components
Date: July 2 - 26, 2013
During the first two-week session, students will learn the fundamentals through archaeological experiments conducted on various materials. From these experiments an archaeological site will be created on the campus. Upper-level students registered in ANTH/ARCH 3344/3346 will mentor students registered in ANTH/ARCH 1300 under the direction of UNB instructors.
In the second two-week session, the “site” that was created previously will be excavated using standard archaeological methods, with a focus on mapping and distribution of artifacts and traces. At the end of the second session, the students will create interpretations of what happened on the “site.”
Participants:
- Incoming first year, current UNB or visiting students looking for an elective, as well as interested adult learners will earn 6 ch introductory level for "Archaeology Summer Camp" (ANTH/ARCH 1300)
- Upper level undergraduate students will earn 6 ch of 3000 level ANTH (ANTH 3344 "Ancient Technology", and ANTH 3346 "Public Archaeology", Students will take both courses which have pre requisites, so they are designed for students who have an anthropology background.
