CURTIS METCALF

Curtis Metcalf has achieved international recognition as one of today’s leading euphonium soloists, with performances throughout North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. For the past ten seasons, Mr. Metcalf was the Artistic Director and Resident Conductor of the Hannaford Street Silver Band. As the band’s euphonium soloist he has been featured at the first Made in Canada Festival of Canadian Music, Winnipeg New Music Festival, Music at Sharon Festival, Festival of the Sound and the Quinte Music Festival, and has been heard across Canada on the CBC Radio Network.

VELVET BROWN

Velvet Brown is Professor of Tuba & Euphonium at Pennsylvania State University. She enjoys a professional career as an international soloist and chamber ensemble performer, recording artist, conductor, and orchestral player. She has made regular appearances throughout Europe, Russia, Japan, Canada, and the United States. Brown has served as principal tubist with the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra and as substitute or additional tubist with the Detroit Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, San Francisco Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She has garnered high praise as a member of the Monarch Brass Quintet and Brass Ensemble, the Junction Tuba Quartet, and the Garda Duo.

LANCE NAGELS 

Lance's 40+ year career as a professional musician spans a wide variety of musical genres, from rock-band trumpet to avant-garde tuba. Very active as an Orchestral and chamber tubist in Quebec City since 1979, he has also been busy promoting both the tuba and euphonium through teaching, clinics, and solo playing in the region. Professor of tuba and euphonium at the Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec, U Laval and CEGEP Ste. Foy, as well as the Domaine Forget Academy, Lance can be heard on several CD's of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and U Laval Brass Quintet as well as the Montreal Symphony's "The Planets".

JEAN SUTHERLAND  

Jean Sutherland started her career as a full time accompanist and a teacher at the Quebec Conservatoires in 1978. For the past 5 years, she has accompanied and coached at the Domaine Forget, where you can hear her playing with some of the world's finest musicians. Jean is a regular at TubaFest, where she has accompanied such greats as John Griffith, Adam Frey, Oystein Baadsvik and of course, her spouse and colleague Lance Nagels.
