sandpipers

Birders, photographers and nature lovers are in for an amazing show as flocks of tens of thousands of sandpipers in an aerial ballet stop to feed on their migratory route to South America.

Each August, the nutrient-rich mud flats of the upper Bay of Fundy draw tens of thousands of shorebirds to feast and rest on their long flight to their winter home.

Experience this marvel of migration firsthand at Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Reserve, near the Village of Dorchester.  From viewing platforms, knowledgeable guides provide interpretation as the shorebirds feed.

On a guided natural history eco-tour of the Sackville Waterfowl Park, you will discover many species of wildlife and plants and become familiar with the trails, boardwalks and inhabitants of this productive wetland site.

The Tantramar region is rich in history and culture. Lunch at the 1828 old stone Bell Inn in Dorchester, tours of historic sites in Sackville, and a visit to the Owens Art Gallery are just a few of the highlights of this adventure.

Package includes accommodations at the iconic Marshland Inn, great meals, guided visits to Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Reserve and Sackville Waterfowl Park, and lots opportunities to experience local culture and the history of the area.
