Sackville musicians Karin Aurell (flute) and Janet Hammock (piano) will be joined by BC cellist Joel Stobbe for the premiere of two new pieces of chamber music by composers Anthony Genge and Martín Kutnowski.  The trio will also perform fiery and expressive tangos by Bragato and Piazzolla. 


CANADIAN GUITAR QUARTET – guitar

Since their debut in 1999, the Canadian Guitar Quartet has toured extensively in North and South America, from one standing ovation to the next, establishing a reputation as one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world.  This classical guitar ensemble is sure to appeal to a wide audience.  

The CGQ has often been featured on both English and French national CBC networks, and on national broadcasts in Chile and Austria.  Their CD, "Les Scènes de Quartiers", was awarded "Le Prix Trille Or” for instrumental album of the year by the "Association des Professionnels de la Chanson et de la Musique.”

The Canadian Guitar Quartet is currently in residence at the University of Ottawa.

Viennese Composers

This recital focuses on the music of the Second Viennese School composers Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern and their pupils. It will also feature music from Canadian composer John Weinzweig, the first North American composer to introduce 12-tone technique to American audiences.

Join David Rogosin for this free performance, which will include works by Scarlatti, Haydn, and Canadian composers Ann Southam and François Morel. 

Rogosin has performed across Canada, in the American midwest, the Caribbean and France. Praised for the brilliance, clarity and passion of his performances, he is highly regarded as a performer, adjudicator and clinician. He is currently Associate Professor at Mount Allison University.

2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Pierrot Lunaire, Schoenberg’s chamber music masterpiece that has influenced musicians and has been performed by artists as diverse as Cleo Laine and Bjork.  This staged presentation tells the story of the tragic clown with some of the finest musicians in the Maritimes, along with new video by Ryan Suter and scenography by Decima Mitchell.
