Lauren Antworth - Design Works Themed Art Camps Instructor

Lauren Antworth: Lauren is a Fredericton born artist. She began her art career giving private art lessons, painting commissioned murals and working with after-school art programs. She loves all mediums and styles of art. This will be Lauren's third summer working with the Design Works summer camps - and she can't wait!

Steal the Stage Theatre Camps

Elizabeth Goodyear - Design Works Steal the Stage Theatre Camps Instructor

Elizabeth Goodyear: This is Elizabeth's fourth summer as an instructor with the Steal the Stage theatre camps. She has a BA in Drama from Bishops' University and has worked in theatres in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. Elizabeth enjoys having the chance to share and explore the joy of theatre with young people, knowing it is a wonderful way for them to express themselves creatively and experience working together as a group to create something wonderful!

Fashion and Jewelry Camps

Rachel MacGillivray - Design Works Fashion and Jewelry Camps Instructor

Rachel MacGillivray: Rachel got her start in sewing by making and selling aprons at the tender age of five. From there, she went on to study Fashion Design at Ryerson University. After working in the industry in Toronto, she moved to New Brunswick to complete the Fibre Arts & Graduate diplomas at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. Rachel has won multiple national competitions, scholarships, and awards and has had her work shown in museums and galleries such as The Louvre, The Bata Show Museum, The National War Museum, and Government House Gallery. She currently works as an instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design during the school year and teaches children at the UNB Design Works camps

Sarah Smith-Stewart - Design Works Fashion and Jewelry Camps Instructor

Sarah Smith-Stewart: Sarah is known as "The Beadnik" - her independent business that she created, and has owned and operated since 2004. She began selling beads, supplies and custom jewelry at local markets in New Brunswick. She also teaches jewelry-making lessons to children and adults from ages 4 to 94! Although she has a classroom in her shop, Sarah travels to schools and community groups to teach the joy of creating with beads!

Photography Camps

Gary Weekes - Design Works Photography Camps Instructor

Gary Weekes: Gary has been in the photography industry for over 25 years - first working in camera stores as a salesperson to eventually owning and operating a small, but growing photographic business www.weekesphotography.com. From working in a large studio in NYC to Hasselblad in the UK, Gary has gained an abundance of photographic knowledge and experience. He has guest lectured at the London College of Communications (UK) and was Department Head of Digital Photography at the Centre for Arts and Technology (Canada). He is currently exploring fine art photography, with a view to an exhibition in the near future.

Jr. Iron Chef Camps

Andrea Read - Design Works Jr. Iron Chef Camps Instructor

Andrea Read: This is Andrea’s third year with the Design Works Jr. Iron Chef camp and her third year of teaching school. Originally from Fredericton (her favorite place to be!), she is presently teaching grade four in Charlottetown P.E.I. She loves cooking and baking, and says she can’t wait for a great summer and exciting new recipes!!

Safety and security are paramount at the Design Works Camps. All staff have first aid/CPR training and criminal record checks.
