The Stained Glass Windows of Memorial Hall

JOHN FLETCHER TAYLOR WINDOW

Dedicated to John Fletcher Taylor (1834-1916), UNB 1896. Gift of his brother F. R. Taylor. The window features scenes from the poems by Robert Burns To a Mountain Daisy and The Cotter’s Saturday Night.

Wee, modest, crimson tipped flow’r,
Thou’s met me in an evil hour;
For I maun crush amang the stoure
Thy slender stem:
To spare thee now is past my pow’r,
Thou bonie gem.

- To a Mountain Daisy
From scenes like these, old Scotia’s grandeur springs
That makes her lov’d at home, rever’d abroad:
Princes and lords are but the breath of kings,
‘An honest man’s the noblest work of God’

- The Cotter’s Saturday Night
