Course Description:

The future of most organizations depends on successful projects. The participants will gain an understanding of the principles of project management including organizing, planning, scheduling and controlling projects to achieve a set of objectives. The course will enhance knowledge and skills of project managers in such topics as concurrent engineering, problem solving, people management skills, managing project risks, controlling project changes and systems thinking. Emphasis is placed on technology-intensive projects that tend to have a high degree of specialized human resources skills/knowledge requirements.

Prerequisite: 80 credit hours of approved courses

Course Features:

TME 3313 exposes students to the project life cycle and its unique characteristics and tools. Through the assigned readings, quizzes, and a project, students will learn specific techniques and insights required to carry out a project successfully.

Learning Outcomes:
  • When you complete this course you will have a basis for:
    • evaluating a project; selecting a project manager; resolving conflicts using negotiation techniques; monitoring project activities; controlling changes made to a project plan.
  • When you complete this course you will be able to:
    • develop project plan; estimate project budget and cost; schedule project activities; allocate the resources; terminate a project; elaborate on a projects phases and the Project Management Institute's approach to project management.
