| Course Features: |
Focuses on the economic and political transitions, and how this area is trying to come to grips with the changes. Effects on societies and cultures must be taken into consideration during times of change. The course is intended for either an Economics or Political Science student, or perhaps it may suit a Business student. It is officially credited in both Economics and Political Science as a cross-listed course. Specialists in Eastern Europe and the Eurasian continent need the course to improve their knowledge of what is going on over there. Economics majors will need to know the "pitfalls" of transition. Students eventually working in Western banks, public policy institutes, government think tanks, or as consultants for firms and corporations must be familiar with the intricacies of "risk assessment" when they prepare feasibility reports on investment, or when they advise governments. This course aims to fulfill that need. The present course is the only such course available in all of Atlantic Canada. |
