| Course Description: |
POLS 1603 is an overview of world politics in an era of globalization. The material that is provided online will be sufficient to answer the question of whether globalization marks a fundamental transformation in world politics in terms of events and laws and current problems and a summary of the main theoretical approaches to explain global politics. You will study international economics, global culture, international law, American foreign policy, terrorism, theories of realism, marxism, feminism. and post-modernism and their perspectives on the international system. You will examine myth, conspiracy theories and the debate between relativism and universalism in the order of the world since the world is constantly changing. You will be studying traditional theories and critiques of global politics as well as ideas and themes that challenge these traditional perspectives. So you will not only learn about how money and banking work in the real world, but also about how philosophers and critics are apt to interpret war and conflict, human foibles, ideologies, religious dogmas, and, of course, relevant actors and decision-makers within nation states. |
