Credit Value:
Three (3) credit hours
Course Description:
Essentially, this course is a rigorous introduction to
microeconomics--but it differs from conventional microeconomic courses
in two main ways. First, conventional courses focus on products,
industries and money; whereas in this course we will be interested in
human behaviour in the widest sense. Of particular interest is to apply
economics to our everyday lives - to begin to see and understand how
economic forces shape so much of what we take for granted. Second, this
course is somewhat unique in that it includes political and
philosophical connections, which allows us a different perspective from
many other economics courses. We allow ourselves the luxury of
critically evaluating the fundamental assumptions upon which the edifice
of economics is built. In this sense, this course is a natural
complement to UNB's Arts 1000.
