OHS Program Information
Program clusters
The Online Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety program is a single-level certificate. The eleven courses are categorized into the following three clusters, all of which are mandatory to obtain the certificate. (Click here for detailed course descriptions)
Fundamentals Cluster
Includes three introductory courses:
- Health and Safety Program Basics (OHS Programs Part 1)
- Fundamentals of Occupational Hygiene
- Legislative Compliance and Corporate Responsibility
Management and Leadership Cluster
Includes three intermediate-level courses directed toward the effective management of health and safety systems:
- Management of Health and Safety Systems (OHS Programs Part 2)
- Management, Leadership and Organizational Behaviour
- Risk Management and Risk Communication
Specialization Cluster
Includes five courses dedicated to comprehensive study of the major discipline-specific specialties within the OHS field:
- Accident Causation Theory and Incident Investigation
- Fundamentals of Environmental Management
- Fire Prevention and Protection
- Ergonomics
- Auditing OHS Management Systems
Post-Certificate Continuing Education Seminars
There will also be several post-certificate seminars available to provide ongoing continuing education opportunities and further enhance the learning of OHS graduates and other safety professionals. Examples of seminars being considered for development are included here. Electives may also be taken as a means of obtaining the professional development and continuing education credits needed to maintain the CRSP and other health and safety designations.
Tuition fees
- Complete certificate - $6,050 (for all 11 courses in the program)
- Individual course - $550
- Prior learning assessment - $150
Schedule
Deadlines for completing various components of the program:
- 10 weeks to complete each course
- 2 years to complete the full program
The OHS program has been designed by working professionals for working adults. We realize that due to unforeseen circumstances interruptions to your course work may occur. Should this be the case, it is possible to apply for an extension of time. These will be assessed on an individual basis.
Withdrawal and refund policy
Certificate
- Withdrawal within the first week - refund of full certificate fee paid, less $100 administration fee plus $550* for every course completed.
- Withdrawal after the first week but within 6 months - refund of 50% less $550* for every course completed (if 6 or more courses are completed, there will be no refund).
- Withdrawal after 6 months - no refund
Per Course*
- Withdrawal within the first week - refund of full course fee paid less $50 administration fee
- Withdrawal after completion of first week - no refund
* Amount of refund for introductory offer will differ
Prior Learning Assessment
- Prior learning assessment - no refund
CRSP Prep Course
- Withdrawal within the first week - refund of full course fee paid less $50 administration fee, provided that not more than one domain exam was accessed; otherwise there will be no refund.
- Withdrawal after the first week - no refund
