University of New Brunswick Announces First 100% Online CRSP Preparation Course

UNB CampusUNB has developed the first 100% online course to help candidates prepare to write the BCRSP certification exam

Fredericton, New Brunswick (February 21, 2011) – The University of New Brunswick is pleased to announce that they have completed the development and are ready to launch the first 100% online CRSP preparation course.

Every year, hundreds of candidates apply to the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and seek to write the CRSP exam leading to the designation CRSP® (Canadian Registered Safety Professional).  The CRSP® designation is granted by the BCRSP and is the best recognized certification for occupational health and safety professionals in Canada.  The final step in becoming a CRSP® is to get a passing mark on the CRSP exam. The exam can be a challenge and the pass rate of this exam has typically been in the range of 40-60%.

UNB’s Online CRSP preparation course has been developed as a review aid to candidates preparing for the Canadian Registered Safety Professional exam.  This course provides an overview of the materials that a candidate writing the exam should know.  The course was developed by practicing occupational health and safety professionals (CRSPs and CIHs) who have experience in teaching occupational health and safety at the university level.

The course has been developed consistent with the requirements and competencies set out in the BCRSP’s 2010 Examination Blueprint. This document lists the competencies described in eleven domains.  These competencies are what the BCRSP believes is to be expected of entry-level registered safety professionals; it is this list of competencies that makes up the subject matter that you will be tested on when writing the CRSP exam.

safetyThe course includes practice exams and quizzes to test candidates’ preparedness.  The questions have been developed following the guidelines and similar processes followed by BCRSP in developing their certification exams.  The purpose of this course is to test your preparedness to write the CRSP exam by reviewing the materials listed in the 2010 Examination Blueprint.  The exam questions have been developed to cover the materials associated with the competencies listed.

This is the first of its kind in Canada.  A course with the focus of helping candidates prepare for the CRSP exam, it is fully online and allows you to practice your exam writing skills online.  Look us up at www.unb.ca/cel/crspprep or contact us at 1-888-259-4222.
