Program Format
The program starts with a 5-day residential program in Fredericton, NB beginning in April 2013 and ends with a 5-day residential in St. Andrews, NB in August 2013 with an online learning component delivered in between over a 4-month period. Overall, the Executive Education program is the equivalent to 15 business days in duration.
The program includes individual coaching, face-to-face classroom learning, online learning, and networking opportunities. The content will be action oriented to enhance the participant’s abilities to assess, analyze, and act upon complex business issues. The business case method will also be imbedded in the program to increase analytical skills, improve sound judgment, and enhance the leadership skills within each participant.
Participants will have access to highly competent and confidential executive level coaching. A coach will be assigned to each participant to meet his or her unique and individual requirements during the course of the program. In addition, a leadership assessment tool will be used to identify areas for development. Although times and locations for coaching sessions will be left to the discretion of the coach and the participant, a total of 6 coaching hours will be allocated.
The residential retreats include instruction, meals (breakfast, lunch and some dinners), accommodations and networking activities. During the program Participants are encouraged to get to know their peers and build strong bonds with other senior leaders. Class discussions and networking activities will provide a platform for 3rd party perspectives and constructive discussion without the cloud of competing issues that surround an office setting. Other activities related to health, wellness, and self-reflection are incorporated to enhance the learning experience.
To facilitate both the face-to-face and online learning, participants will receive an iPad® with course curriculum preloaded, including links to Desire2Learn (UNB’s online learning management system) and other learning resources. The online courses will have both synchronous and asynchronous components that will provide more interaction, greater scheduling and time flexibility for participants, and will encourage critical thinking and collaboration.
