College of Extended Learning

Centre for Musical Arts

The Centre for Musical Arts (CMA) is UNB’s music hub, which offers a variety of non-credit music programs through the College of Extended Learning (CEL) and credit programs through the Faculty of Arts.

Our mission is to offer high-quality music programming and activities, accessible to both UNB students and the wider Fredericton community. We work hard to ensure:

  • Interested students continue to enjoy the study of music in both classroom and on stage
  • The general public has access to a variety of music courses and programming including: concerts, private lessons, ensembles, summer camps, short courses and workshops

Our music programs are offered through four main areas:

Credit Courses Students can earn credits through a Minor in Music, individual music courses, or participation in Band, Chorale, or Chamber Orchestra.
Music Conservatory Music programs for all ages, including private one-to-one and group lessons, adult and youth ensembles, and short courses.
Music Camps Fun musical camps tailored to various ages, levels, and interests. Camps are offered during March break and Summer.
musicUNB An annual concert series that features chamber and cutting-edge classical music performances. All are welcome!

CMA is housed in Memorial Hall, which opened in 1925 in honour of the 35 UNB alumni who lost their lives in the First World War.

The Centre for Musical Arts is where you can also find information about Atlantic Sinfonia and the NB Summer Music Festival.
