Painting with Watercolours 1

Explore watercolours for your first time or expand your watercolour practice through experimentation. In this class, we’ll work with a variety of tools and application techniques while discovering the unique properties of this medium. The course will include hands-on experimentation through quick exercises and the development of several more resolved pieces. This course is appropriate for beginners as well as those who are more experienced and looking for inspiration, new ideas or new directions in their practice.

Materials

Available at Michael’s

  • Reeves Watercolour set- a simple is fine
  • A set of watercolour brushes (Artist Loft is a good brand to look for)
  • Watercolour paper, minimum size 9x12 (Canson XL is a good brand)
  • A small jar or cup for water
  • A small plastic plate for a palette
  • Some paper towel for spills!

About the instructor

Maggie Gunter is a self-taught artist from Saint John, NB who has been creating visual art since a very early age. She has an extensive background in acrylic painting, watercolour painting, pen drawing and mixed-media pieces. While she appreciates the importance of the theoretical component to making art, she embraces a very experimental approach. Always looking to gain new perspectives, Maggie is excited to share her passion with others.
