Fiction Writing 2

CCOM 1124

Does your plot need thickening? Do your cardboard cutout characters need to kick it up a notch? Has your story arc fallen flat? This course is designed to help you better understand story structure and how positive/negative character traits, emotions, tension, and conflict can breathe life into your characters. We’ll also explore the concept of story and character arcs and how your main character’s journey will make or break your story.

Admission criteria: Writers who have completed any previous UNB Adult Ed writing courses (Writing With Purpose 1 or 2, Intro to Novel Writing, Writing Your Personal Memoir, or Fiction Writing 1) are automatically accepted into this course. Others will be accepted by permission of the instructor.

About the instructor

Abby has spent the last 20 years carving “who shot JR moments” into technical courses, speeches, proposals, and everything in between for Fortune 500 companies. A method writer with a Hemingway swagger and a True Detective heart, Abby has climbed telephone poles, sat in courtrooms, and hiked in the woods alone after dark to get a good story.
