Beginners Woodworking

CCOM 1306

In our new Beginner’s Woodworking class, we start off with necessary safety issues. You’ll be working with power tools, table and chop saws, power drills and other woodworking equipment. First and foremost, you will be taught and tested on safety issues in using each power tool. Safety around power tools will be the most important lesson in the Beginner’s Woodworking class and will be continually emphasized. The rules of safe tool use will be strictly enforced throughout the class.

You will build a small woodworking project and learn the basics of planning, cutting pieces, simple joinery, gluing and fastening and finishing. Finishing products will be water-based low VOC compounds. The first project we will embark on is a bookshelf. You will get hands-on experience with all aspects of basic wood-working.

In this class, you will gain the knowledge of safety standards and the basic skills to carry on with your own projects after the class is completed.

There will be a materials fee for each student of $40-50.
This class will be limited to 6 students.
