Acoustic Guitar 5: Infinity and Beyond

CCOM 7404

This 10-week class is for you if: you’ve learned the basic chords and some variations, you’ve learned some runs and riffs and you’re gaining some awareness of how things come together. In Guitar 5, we’ll continue to learn ways to add depth and variety to your established pieces, and we’ll teach new guitar concepts by introducing new pieces regularly. We will re-visit finger picking and try out new strumming patterns. You will be introduced to tablature and we’ll begin to incorporate some ‘solo’ riffs in the middle of songs.

The focus will be on learning guitar by playing songs that you’re familiar with, from Johnny Cash to Taylor Swift; blues, bluegrass or rock’n’roll. We’ll build your skills one new block at a time. Your knowledge of music theory (like, ‘how do bar chords work?’) will grow through the application of ideas as we play songs and discuss each student’s approach to the instrument. Look forward to seeing you in this fun and energetic class, with a shorter class duration, 1.5 hours and 10 weeks long.
