Beer Appreciation

Anyone can drink a beer, but wouldn’t it be nice to stop and truly savour the experience, taking the time to really taste, appreciate and learn about the qualities, flavours and styles of your favourite beverage.

Certified Cicerone (beer sommelier) Ian Covey introduces you to a wide variety of beers (10-12) in this fun and informative tasting session – opening the door to a whole new level of enjoyment. Gain appreciation for the different types of beer, all while learning about the processes, history and ingredients involved in its production. Cheers!

Note: Participants must be at least 19 years of age, and arrange for a drive or take a taxi after the workshop.

About the instructor

Ian Covey has been involved in the craft beer industry for the past five years. He is currently New Brunswick's only Certified Cicerone (beer sommelier), specializing in the processes that make up beer brewing, tasting and pairing, as well as knowing the myriad beer styles and the histories that brought them into being.

He is also a recognized BJCP beer judge, having judged in local, national and international competitions. An intrepid traveller, Ian has savoured beer in some of the great German bier halls, Czech tunnels, and some of the most experimental brewpubs in America.
