Connecting the past to the present
The University of New Brunswick is one of the oldest English universities in North America and has the oldest university building still in use in Canada.
One of our unique challenges is preserving our heritage while ensuring those buildings and spaces reflect the latest trends in education and research and the expectations of our community.
Left unchecked, aging infrastructure and deferred maintenance can contribute to an erosion of the experience we can offer to those who work, study and visit a university.
The reduction of deferred maintenance at UNB is a key priority and a plan of action, in use for several years, combined with budgeted resources and generous financial commitments from government are helping to retrofit and modernize UNB.
