Ways in which we can help you minimize the environmental impact of your technology.

1. PURCHASE ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE, ENERGY EFFICIENT "GREEN" PRODUCTS.

We have created a page listing some products we have begun bringing in specifically with an eye to lower energy usage, more environmentally responsible manufacturing, or similar considerations.

2. RECYCLE USED RECHARGABLE BATTERIES

Rechargable batteries, including notebook batteries, batteries from rechargable power tools, used cell phones and the like can be dropped off with us for proper disposal. We work with the Rechargable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) to help keep used Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-on), and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) batteries out of the waste stream.

For more information, visit Call2Recycle

We are not able to accept non-rechargable Alkaline batteries for recycling. On campus, these can be dropped off at collection points organized by the campus chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Collection bins are located at various sites around campus, including at all libraries.

3. Recycle Used Ink & Toner Cartridges

We accept back used ink & toner cartridges, regardless of manufacturer. These are returned to cartridge manufacturers for reuse or recycling.

Cartridges can be dropped off at our location. If you are on campus, empty cartridges can be returned via campus mail. Place empty cartridges in a plastic bag, which should be tied or sealed to prevent spillage of any remaining ink or toner, and then placed in a box addressed to the Bookstore and marked "RECYCLE". Returning the cartridge in the package the replacement cartridge came in works well.
