Quality health education in New Brunswick

Where tradition and innovation meet

At UNB, it's about the difference we make.  A difference in the lives of our students past and present, in our community, our province and around the world.

This is a place where you will learn to grow and grow to lead.  The opportunities are yours to add to it.

From the red-brick buildings of the Fredericton campus, to the bustling Saint John campus, and the nursing site in Moncton, UNB welcomes you to a place where tradition and innovation have teamed up to bring you the best university experience of your life.

As the oldest English-language university in Canada, we have the kind of rich heritage and history that generates pride and distinction, but at the same time we have the ability to remain innovative and up to date with seamless effort.

The time you will spend in the nursing program at UNB will be a significant time in your life. You will learn a lot about nursing, make new friends, and challenge yourselves in ways you cannot imagine.

The University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Nursing offers a four-year bachelor of nursing (BN) program in the city of Bathurst, in northern New Brunswick.

An innovative curriculum and interactive teaching are unique features that help to ensure the success of all students in the Nursing Faculty. Small classes and lots of interaction among students working in a co-learner environment provide them with the opportunity to build lasting friendships and strong professional connections.

Bathurst nursing students work in the classroom and in the community.

Students obtain clinical experience in a variety of settings, including acute care facilities, nursing homes and schools. Some professors make use of distance technology to deliver their courses.

Experimentation in new nursing roles and teamwork with practicing professionals keep the program up-to-date and provide students with the most current information available. The program places great emphasis on the caring practice of nursing with the idea that the human side of the profession is just as important as the technical side.

There are currently 86 undergraduate students enrolled in the Bathurst campus BN program, and 14 new students currently admitted for the 2013-14 school year.

Our faculty and staff offer the same undergraduate nursing program and learning opportunities as our campuses in Fredericton and Moncton, with extra perks:

•    Relatively small class sizes encourage students to get to know their fellow classmates and faculty members.
•    Single-focus campus with a cafeteria and ample, affordable rental accommodations nearby (rooms and apartments).
•    Gym, movie theatre, grocery store, and arena are all within walking distance to the campus.
•    The opportunity to learn, live, and work in a desirable community.
