Call for PapersAPLA 31 ALPA Conference Theme: Dialect and Variation We invite proposals, in English or French, for papers in all areas related to the main conference theme. Dialect is viewed broadly in the context of social and/or geographic space; we welcome presentations dealing with varieties of English, French and other languages as well as reports of empirical studies carried out in specific dialect regions and speech communities. Papers are also invited for general sessions on any aspect of linguistics. Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit. Papers are 30 minutes in length (20 minutes for presentation and 10 for discussion). Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length, excluding title and references. On a separate page, please list your paper title, name, affiliation (indicate if you are a student), your current mailing and electronic address, your phone and fax numbers, and any audiovisual equipment that will be needed for your presentation. Please submit abstracts via email as separate attachments (MSWord, WordPerfect or Rich Text Format) or by regular mail to the address given below. Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed. The registration fee for the conference is $60 ($40 for retirees and $20 for students). All presenters must be members of the Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association (APLA).
