ALUMNI NEWS MAGAZINE | Fall 2023

This issue is dedicated to you - our 99,000+ alumni. While we couldn't feature all of you in this 72-page magazine, I hope the spirit in which it has been produced is understood.

Publishing last summer's 100th anniversary issue brought me joy and from some of the feedback we received, it also brought joy to our readers. Here is what some of you had to say: "What a surprise! I was flipping through the 100-year anniversary issue of Alumni News, when I discovered my father on page 12." "I enjoyed looking through my copy of the 100th anniversary issue ofUNB Alumni News." "Having just received the retrospective issue of Alumni News via email, I am delighted to see that I am back in print! ("It's No Snap Making it in Photography," 1977)."

In the spirit of nostalgia, 2023 marks my 10th year working on Alumni News - which was supposed to be a one-issue gig. During those years, I've met many great alumni and had the privilege of hearing and sharing their stories. If you are one of them, Thank You! Instead of including my photo with this letter, these are some of the issues that hold great memories for me.

This current issue is also our make up issue. Due to the nature of the 100th anniversary magazine, our regular content was moved to this issue, including Hither and Yon and In Memoriam. There are also lots of photos from gatherings, reunion weekend, Red+Black Day, and the Proudly UNB Awards event. And, we're highlighting some of our people, places, programs, and research; as well as sharing stories on how you are supporting future alumni.

We're always planning for future issues of the magazine and will have some new and different ways to share alumni stories. Looking ahead to the summer 2024 issue, I'm putting a call out for questions for UNB President Dr. Paul Mazerolle. To commemorate the end of his first term and the beginning of his second term, we'll feature a Q&A with him. So send your questions to alumni@unb.ca. The deadline is March 30, 2024.

The next 100 years of Alumni News are going to be great!

Happy reading. Until the next issue.
