The UNB Associated Alumnae Council is made up of women graduates and former students of the university. Founded in 1910 and incorporated in 1919, the association's goal is to promote – directly and indirectly – the educational and financial interests of the university, especially those related to the women graduates and undergraduates of the university.
The Associated Alumnae annually awards several scholarships to current students totaling more than $20,000 per year, including: an Entrance Scholarship in Education named in honour of Muriel Farris Baird; the Zula V. Hallett Scholarship; the Marion Fleet Rogers Scholarship; Alumnae award for part-time students and travel grants to graduate students.
The Associated Alumnae meets throughout the year to develop and implement events related to future, current and former UNB women students. A few of our signature events are as follows:

Jane grew up in Marysville, a small community within the city of Fredericton. She graduated from the Fredericton campus of the University of New Brunswick in 1997 with a BBA. She pursued her Certified Management Accountant designation of which she completed in 2012. Throughout her career she has worked in various industries and gained knowledge in broad areas of accounting, compliance auditing, process improvement, risk management and project management. She has been with the Financial and Consumer Services Commission where she currently works as the Manager of Regulatory Systems.
Jane enjoys spending time with her husband Peter, their two children Gracie and Erik and the family dog, Thor. She volunteered on the New Maryland Home and School Committee for several years in the position of Vice President. She has volunteered on the Associated Alumnae of University of New Brunswick Executive Council since 2016. She currently holds the position President, and in prior years held various positions of 1st Vice President, Treasurer, and lead on the Scholarship Committee.
Jen graduated from the Fredericton campus of the University of New Brunswick in 2008, and joined Bringloe Feeney fresh out of university. She attained her CPA, CA designation in 2011.
A native of the Fredericton area, in her spare time she enjoys reading, craft projects and spending time outdoors with her husband (Chris) and two young children (Wyatt, Dawson).
Besides being an accountant and auditor, Jen is also a trusted business advisor. Our clients appreciate her concern for the success of their business. She takes the time to understand what is important to them - including their goals, challenges and opportunities.
Jen is Vice - Chair of the AC Group Executive Committee, is a member of the University of New Brunswick Board of Governors, Fredericton Senate and Audit Committee, and holds the Past-President position on the Associated Alumnae of the University of New Brunswick Executive Council.
Emilie Chiasson (BPhil ’15) is the Provincial Program Coordinator for FutureNB where she works to bridge the gap between student workplace readiness and employee recruitment and retention through experiential learning.
Chloe Jardine is a Prince Edward Island native that began her UNB journey in 2016. After graduated from Renaissance College in 2019, she ventured up the hill to attend the UNB Faculty of Law. Chloe has been an active member of the UNB community since arriving in Fredericton, including various positions with UNB Student Union and as a student representative on the UB Board of Governors. She looks forward to continuing her involvement with UNB through the UNB Associated Alumnae.
While she never misses an opportunity to visit the Island, Fredericton has quickly become Chloe’s second home. In her spare time, Chloe can be found frequenting some of Fredericton’s local cafes, breweries, and the Boyce Farmer’s Market.
Beverley graduated from the Fredericton campus of UNB in 2012, after completing her first degree at Carleton University in 1988. She is currently working on a Risk Management Certificate from the University of Toronto. 
After growing up in rural New Brunswick, outside of Hampton, Haley graduated from UNB Saint John with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004, where she met her husband, Phil. After working for the federal government for a couple years, Haley returned to UNB in Fredericton as a mature part time student to take accounting. She worked for a national accounting firm for 7 years, obtaining her Chartered Accountant designation in 2011. She left public accounting and moved to the provincial government in 2015, having a series of progressive positions since then.
Baukje (Bo) Miedema was born in Holland. She moved to Canada in 1981. She had earned two nursing degrees in Holland: a general (RN) and a psychiatric nursing degree. When she moved to Canada, initially to Ontario, it was complicated to get her Dutch nursing degrees accredited. When she moved to New Brunswick in 1984 she would have to start the accreditation process all over again, she decided to pivot her career and embarked on a university degree in Sociology. Eventually she completed a PhD in 1996 based on her thesis entitled “Mothering for the State: The Story of Fostering in New Brunswick.”
For almost 20 years she worked for the Dalhousie University Family Medicine Teaching Unit in Fredericton as a researcher and then as the Director of Research. She had a successful academic career with several books and 75 research papers. She retired in 2016. She was, and still is, very involved in community organizations such Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV), the Multicultural Association of Fredericton (MCAF), the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) and Stepping Stone.
Dr. Shelley Delano Parker is NB Power’s Industrial Psychologist and Corporate Ombuds working within the Corporate Health & Safety group. She brings to the group the scientific perspective of the field of applied psychology within an industrial setting, enabling the development of a unique, psychological approach to safety. This resulted in NB Power being the recipient of two national gold medal awards: Canada’s Safest Employer and the Psychological Safety Award. She also holds the position of APA SIOP Certified Psychometric Test Consultant for Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, Certified Nuclear Power System Operator Testing Consultant.
Dr. Parker’s research has focussed on the contribution of email incivility to psychological distress and anxiety for which she has received the Canadian Psychological Association’s National Award for Academic Excellence in Research. She currently is examining workplace stress, attention, and the mitigating role of mindfulness. She also teaches within the psychology department at the University of New Brunswick.
Myrna was born in Plaster Rock and graduated from high school with the Birks Bronze medal. In those days senior matriculations were needed to enter any career path. She had chosen Medical Laboratory Technology and attended UNB for one year for the matriculations. She graduated from the School of Medical Laboratory Technology as first in her class. She became nationally certified in her profession and after two years of work she returned to UNB to finish her degree.
Myrna worked in the Health Care Field until her retirement, first as a bench technologist and then Laboratory Manager in the DECH. For the last ten years of her career Myrna was Provincial Laboratory Consultant with the Department of Health.
In 2022, Myrna I was awarded Honorary Membership in The Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science CSMLS.
