Guides and Training Materials

The Web and New Media Marketing group, working in partnership with ITS Solutions, has developed several guides to help the university community develop effective, audience-focused websites. Those tools include an information architecture guide, a web style guide and a training guide for the UNB content management system or CMS.

Information Architecture Guide

Information architecture (IA) is a blueprint for your website. It’s a simple breakdown of all of your pages organized in a logical way based on a determination of key audiences and key information. You can learn more about building an IA through our guide, Information Architecture:
Designing visitor-centric blueprints for your website. Download the IA guide (.pdf).

UNB Web Style Guide

The web style guide is designed to provide web content creators at the University of New Brunswick with a set of guidelines, rules and examples that will improve the overall quality of UNB.ca.

The UNB web style guide provides tips on writing for the web, UNB-specific punctuation, spelling and capitalization rules. The style guide also has instructions on how to complement text with photos and properly use meta tags. The guide provides direction for the basic elements that should be part of every UNB web page. You can learn more about creating content for UNB.ca through the UNB Web Style Guide. Download the style guide (.pdf).

CMS User's Guide

Developed in close colloboration with our partners in ITS, the CMS User's Guide provides quick explanations and instructions for the most commonly used features of UNB’s web site creation and maintenance software. Download the CMS Guide (.pdf).

Web Graphic Standards

This guide has been created to offer assistance when creating ad blocks, sub ads, banners, billboards, features stories, and imagery.  Download the web graphic standards guide (.pdf).
