What is branding?

Reputation. It's that simple.

Logo, visual identity, and/or taglines are simply reflections of the brand. It's about reputation, and our brand should reflect that reputation. Do we give students a top-notch experience? Our publications should reflect that. Do we have faculty working at the forefront of research and creativity? Our websites should reflect that. Do we have a university worthy of global recognition? Everything we say and do should answer with a resounding "yes."

The world of higher education is as competitive as any business or industry. The University of New Brunswick is vying for top faculty, top students, donor dollars and public support. To continue to be successful, it needs a consistent, powerful brand that clearly communicates the university’s distinctive qualities and strengths. By creating a common understanding of the brand among staff, faculty, students and the people of the province, the country and the world, we reinforce the great value the university brings to the world.

Everything we do as a university impacts what people think of us. From what takes place inside the classroom to what is seen on our campus - from a simple University handout to a full-blown recruitment campaign - it is all a reflection of our university's brand. Our brand is measured by what people know about us and feel about us. Much more than a logo, our brand is our image...it's our reputation...and it must be managed with great care.
