Mechanical Engineering

More information

Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest disciplines of engineering. As a mechanical engineer you could work in product design, manufacturing or industrial management. You could create and build mechanical devices ranging from spacecraft to artificial limbs, from pollution control devices to computer-controlled robots.

Mechanical engineers use physics and math to solve problems in our everyday lives. Their focus is on making the world a better place by creating components and systems that perform efficiently, consistently, safely and that are environmentally sound.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering program is available as a major as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. The faculty of engineering at the University of New Brunswick has been preparing graduates for success in their engineering careers since 1854, when UNB was the first university in Canada to introduce an engineering program.
Our graduates have gone on to help design and build bridges, make cleaner fuels and next-generation wireless communications tools. Researchers at the faculty are developing technologies to help improve satellite imagery used by Google Earth and the Canadian Department of National Defence. Others are in helping develop biofuels and renewable energy.
The faculty of engineering at UNB was ranked in the top 10 engineering schools in Canada by Knight School Rankings.
