Computer Engineering

More information

Computer Engineering is a multi-disciplinary program that develops an expertise with interfacing and integrating computers and computer communications for creating new and innovative products and services.

Computer engineering focuses on the design and application of computers in solving real-world problems. Computer engineers have made major contributions in the development of things we use every day – DVD players, computer games, automotive control systems, ‘smart’ vehicles, industrial computer control systems, and computer networks – to things that have revolutionized the world – airplanes, space vehicles, GPS units, and life-saving medical equipment.

With the great strides being made in computer engineering, you may discover a career upon graduation that has yet to be created!

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

The Computer Engineering program is available as a major as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. The faculty of engineering at the University of New Brunswick has been preparing graduates for success in their engineering careers since 1854, when UNB was the first university in Canada to introduce an engineering program.

Our graduates have gone on to help design and build bridges, make cleaner fuels and next-generation wireless communications tools. Researchers at the faculty are developing technologies to help improve satellite imagery used by Google Earth and the Canadian Department of National Defence. Others are in helping develop biofuels and renewable energy.

The faculty of engineering at UNB was ranked in the top 10 engineering schools in Canada by Knight School Rankings.
