The study of the English Language involves the reading and analysis of English texts and the creation of texts in English. The English program offers a wide range of courses in British, Canadian, American, and Postcolonial literature.
It also offers courses in creative and expository writing, film, drama production, and language and linguistics, some of which are basic parts of special programmers in Drama, in Creative Writing, and in English Language and the Linguistics of English.
The Major program is designed to give you the opportunity of pursuing your studies with a good deal of freedom in the choice of courses.
The English program is available as a major, minor, double major or honours option as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree. Arts is a four-year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions.
In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.
