Anthropology is the study of humankind, past and present.
It examines the evolutionary history of all human kind: its global cultural manifestations and its patterns of social organization.
Considered a social science, anthropologists draw upon information and techniques from a broad range of humanities including, social sciences, natural sciences, and physical sciences.

Bachelor of Arts
The Anthropology program is offered as a major, minor, honours, joint honours and double major as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree. Arts is a four-year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions.
In your first two years of Arts, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.
When you finish, you'll be prepared to go on to graduate school, professional schools, or straight into careers like the creative arts, the civil service, administration, business or journalism.
Course Options
Courses in Area Ethnographies are available to provide a general knowledge of the societies and cultures of selected geographical regions.
A minor program in Culture and Economy is also available as a joint endeavor with the Economics department.
