Admission Regulations

G. International Applicants and English Proficiency Requirements

  1. Admission requirements are set by degree and interpreted according to different educational frameworks. Applicants from other countries should consult the UNB website unb.ca/international/admission for detailed admission requirements that can differ between countries.
  2. English is the language of instruction at the University of New Brunswick. International students and permanent residents whose first language is not English must submit the results of an English language proficiency test: Applicants should consult the UNB website www.unb.ca/international/admission/english.html for detailed English language proficiency requirements and exemptions. In all cases, the University reserves the right to require proof of language proficiency before permission will be granted to register in academic courses.
  3. Academically admissible applicants who are unable to provide the required English proficiency score for direct admission, may be accepted to most degree programs on the condition that they complete full-time academic English language studies. Applicants will be tested upon arrival to UNB. For further information, please visit the following website: www.unb.ca/international/admission/english.html
