ME5223*Finite Element Analysis4 ch (3C 3L*)

Introduction to basic concepts of finite element analysis (FEA) including domain discretization, element types, system matrix assembly, and numerical solution techniques. Application of FEA to solve static, dynamic and harmonic problems of linearly elastic solid bodies will be covered in detail. Extension of FEA techniques to solve problems in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and piezoelectricity are also introduced.

Prerequisites: ME 2122 and ME 3613 and MATH 3503 and (CS 3113 or CE 3933 or CHE 3418).
