Explores the Copernican and Newtonian Revolutions of the seventeenth century; the cultural consequences of the moving earth and the conception of nature as a great machine; the new world views of the twentieth century associated with the theory of relativity and the quantum theory; and the political, social, and ethical impact of physics through electronics, computers, and nuclear weaponry. Restriction: Not available for credit to students who have taken HIST 2905 .
