Education

This course reviews the impact of various historical movements and philosophical influences on contemporary educational thought. The discussion of these foundational forces is to help students understand and evaluate the theoretical basis supporting prevailing educational concepts and practices. The course uses both philosophical and historical inquiry to explore indoctrination, constructivism, human and moral development, critical thinking, progressivism, and education research. The course will also assist students in developing and articulating their personal philosophy of education.
