The 2009 CCToMM Symposium on Mechanisms, Machines, and Mechatronics (2009 CCToMM M³ Symposium) will be held from Thursday May 28 to Friday May 29, 2009, at Université Laval, Quebec City, Québec, Canada.
The 2009 CCToMM Annual General Meeting will be held during the Symposium.
Papers should be submitted as unsecured PDF files in the format of the Transactions of the CSME, with the intention to produce, out of the best papers, a special issue on Mechanisms, Machines, and Mechatronics, sponsored by the CCToMM. Sample PDF and TEX files, together with the appropriately formatted LaTeX class file are all available here. Full papers should not exceed 12 pages. Please submit each paper by email as an unsecured PDF file attachment to the Symposium Co-Chair Dr. Christian Lange:
Note: Each corresponding author submitting a full paper will be requested to review two papers per paper submitted.

CCToMM M3 Symposium sessions will potentially include: mechanisms, dynamics of machines, applied vibrations, gearing and transmissions, robotics, mechatronics, control, machining, mechanical systems, space robotics, medical robotics, and biomechanics.
There are two submission formats possible for the Symposium:
- Full papers submitted in the format of the Transactions of the CSME, with the intention to produce, out of the best papers, a special CCToMM issue of the CSME Transactions devoted to Mechanisms, Machines, and Mechatronics. Transactions of the CSME Instructions to Authors can be found below. Full papers should not exceed 12 pages.
- MMM 2009 LaTeX Class File (LaTeX CLS File)
- Sample Paper (sample paper TEX file and PDF file)
- Topic abstracts. The objective of this format submission is to allow presentation/discussion of preliminary work being done in laboratories, R&D agencies and/or industry. The abstracts shall be of the same format as the Transactions of the CSME. Abstracts should not exceed two pages.
The deadline for submissions in any of the two formats was January 18, 2009 (Extended deadline: Feb. 1, 2009). All communications with the corresponding author of each paper will be conducted by email. Updates, considering reviewers' suggested modifications, of accepted papers are due by April 20, 2009.
The final submission should be sent electronically to CCToMM2009@asc-csa.gc.ca. Authors should also submit the Right to Publish form by fax to (450) 926-4695 to the attention of Dr. Christian Lange.
Below are links to the documents the reviewers will need to perform their reviews:
- Review form in XLS format: Pxx-CCToMM-Review-Form.xls. Compatible with MS Excel and OpenOffice.
- Review form in DOC format: Pxx-CCToMM-Review-Form.doc. Compatible with MS Excel and OpenOffice. Only use this file if it is not possible for you to use the XLS file above.
- Additional comments in DOC format: Pxx-CCToMM-Comments.doc. You may also submit comments in PDF form clearly identifying the file name based on the format above and ensuring the paper number and title are clearly indicated on the top of the document. Ensure the reviewer's identity is not revealed within the text or within the file properties.
- Please replace xx on the file names by the paper number you were given when paper to review were assigned.
Please note that all reviews are due Friday March 6, 2009.

- Google maps
From the University residences, the Pavillon Adrien-Pouliot is a short walk away. Please check the map of the university for details (the residences are the buildings labelled as 24 and 25 whereas the Pavillon Adrien-Pouliot is labelled as 12). Many hotels are located nearby (mostly on Boulevard Laurier and Avenue des Hotels which are less than 5 minutes away by car).
Here are three options for how to reach l'Université Laval from Jean Lesage International Airport:
- Rental car: Many companies have booths at the airport, click here for more details.
- Taxi: It will normally cost around $25 to the university and $32 to downtown.
- Public transportation: Take city bus #78 right outside the airport's arrival gate (stop #5322). Bus #78 goes in the direction of the Terminus les Saules. Get off at the Terminus les Saules (stop #5778). Walk ~30 m to stop #5736 and take bus #87 in the direction of Sainte-Foy Centre. For the ULaval residences, get off at the Pavillon A.-Desjardins (stop #3899, ask bus driver). The whole trip takes close to 1 hour. You can plan your trip using RTC's trajecto (use the stop numbers cited above to facilitate your search). Note: bus #78 has very limited times, please check the RTC website for more details.
The participants have to book the hotel themselves.
Information about Quebec hotels can be found in a number of websites such as Expedia, Travelocity or the Canadian Hotel Guide (to name a few). Although there are many hotels in the Quebec City (specially in the old town), you may want to find a hotel in Ste-Foy which are just a few minutes away from the university. These are mostly located on Boulevard Laurier and Avenue des Hotels.
The university also provides inexpensive accommodations. Please check the site for the Service des résidences for details.
