Sally Dibblee
Dibblee has been acclaimed by Vancouver critics for her "floating high pianissimos" and "tender, rapturous, and pure" singing. A resident of the Fredericton area, Miss Dibblee made her Canadian Opera Company main stage debut as Frasquita in Carmen, followed by the leading role of Camilla in the world premiere of Randolph Peters' Nosferatu, Musetta in La Bohème, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. She has performed with most of the opera companies in Canada and a growing number in the United States. On the concert stage, she has been a soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Lloyd Webber's Requiem, with Messiah for the Winnipeg Symphony, the Elora Festival Singers, and the Bach-Elgar Choir of Hamilton. In recital, Miss Dibblee has appeared with The Aldeburgh Connection in Toronto, on CBC, and at the Elora Festival, as well as the symphonies of Nova Scotia and PEI. She performed in Fredericton last May as a soloist in Carmina Burana with the Fredericton Choral Society. In 2002/03, Miss Dibblee performed with Opera Ontario, Edmonton Opera, and Calgary Opera, and in concert with the Calgary Philharmonic.
