The 2007 symposium provides an opportunity for dialogue about the rights and responsibilities of all Canadians around adult and lifelong learning.

Learning offers a powerful instrument for sustainable economic productivity, civic engagement, social justice, professional development, and personal growth.

The symposium program includes a balance of community-based and research-based presentations, offered by front-line practitioners and researchers. The sessions include community-based knowledge exchange initiatives, as well as interim findings from current, cutting-edge applied research projects. The symposium is aimed at a broad audience of adult learning stakeholders – practitioners, researchers, policy-makers, community-based organizations, and others.

The symposium is a bilingual event with four plenary and 24 concurrent sessions. Simultaneous translation will be provided at all plenary sessions; a bilingual interpreter will be assigned to each session to assist with French to English and English to French communication, when needed.

The keynote speakers are Dr. Abrar Hasan of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Dr. Tim O’Neill of the ABC Canada Literacy Foundation.

In keeping with the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre’s commitment to making information on adult learning widely available to all Canadians, there is no registration fee to attend the symposium.
